Hello! My name is John Nelson, the creator of Behind the Gospels.
My background is as a qualified teacher and student. I earned an MSt in Theology (New Testament) and PGCE at Magdalen College, Oxford in 2020 and a PhD in Christian Origins from New College, University of Edinburgh in 2023.
As part of my freelance work, I now produce Biblical Time Machine, a podcast which hosts leading academics in a range of fields related to the bible.

The Purpose of the Blog
Behind the Gospels is an academic blog, offering weekly insights into the Gospels. Its primary goal is to make academic study of the gospels accessible to a wide audience.
